Model of a standard bridge ships telegraph found on most ships and used to convey instructions from the bridge to the engine room. often these would be on both sides of the ships wheel so that bridge officers or the quartermaster could "ring down" while berthing a ship. Larger ships or pleasure steamers fitted withdeck extensions, known as "wings" either side of the bridge would have a telegraph to allow bridge officers to use the wings for berthing purposes
