One of the most Iconic Vessels  on the river Clyde and indeed not just the Scotland were the little Clyde Puffers being Tramp Steamers these little ships could be seen quite litterally from John o'Groats to Lands End.  They were made famous in the comedy Film the "Maggie" and most notably BBC Scotland TV's  series based on the serialised book "Tales of Parahandy" "The Vital Spark".  So useful were these little craft that the Royal Navy commissioned a fleet of similar but slightly larger boats which were referred to as VIC's or Victualling Inshore Craft for use at Scapa Flow Faslane Rosyth and Milford Haven.
